Our Story
Rainbow Room was founded out of a simple but powerful belief: every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and reach their full potential in an environment where they are understood, supported, and celebrated.
Recognising the lack of specialised early intervention and educational support available to young children with developmental delays, autism, sensory challenges, and other special educational needs, Rainbow Room was established in Kloof, KwaZulu-Natal, to provide a nurturing, family-centred environment where children could access both education and therapy under one roof.
From its early beginnings, Rainbow Room has focused on supporting not only the child but the entire family. Understanding that raising a child with additional needs can be both rewarding and challenging, the school has built strong partnerships with parents, therapists, and specialists to create a community of care and support.
Since 2020, Rainbow Room has served many children and families throughout the Upper Highway area and beyond. The school caters for young children with a wide range of developmental and learning needs, providing individualised educational programmes, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy support, dietician support, access to play therapy and educational psychology as well as sensory-sensitive learning environments.
As the needs of the community have grown, so too has Rainbow Room. What began as a small specialised preschool has developed into a respected centre of learning and early intervention, known for its dedicated staff, integrated therapy approach, and commitment to helping every child thrive. Today, Rainbow Room continues to provide a safe, loving environment where children are encouraged to develop confidence, independence, communication skills, and a lifelong love of learning.
The heart of Rainbow Room remains unchanged: to bring hope to families, celebrate every achievement, and ensure that every child is given the opportunity to shine.
